Boca Country Club is a guard-gated Boca Raton residential community where homeowners are not required to purchase a country-club membership. The former private club is now the City-owned Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club, an 18-hole public golf facility. That means the mandatory private-club initiation fee is $0 and mandatory private-club annual dues are $0. Homeowners still pay applicable master and village HOA assessments, while golf charges are separate.
For buyers attracted to golf-course views and gated living—but not the six-figure initiation fees found at many Boca Raton private clubs—Boca Country Club deserves a close look.
Quick update for buyers: “Boca Country Club,” “Boca Golf and Tennis” and “Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club” are often used interchangeably online, but they do not mean exactly the same thing. Boca Country Club or Boca Golf and Tennis generally refers to the residential community. Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club is the City-owned public golf facility within the community.

Boca Country Club is a well-established golf-course community in northern Boca Raton, close to the Delray Beach border. The community is also commonly called Boca Golf and Tennis and contains nearly 1,000 residences across 12 individual villages.
The real estate is more varied than in many traditional country-club communities. Buyers can find mid-rise condominiums, coach homes, attached villas, courtyard homes, townhomes and single-family residences. Many properties overlook the golf course, lakes or mature landscaping.
Most homes were built during the late 1980s and early 1990s. As a result, buyers may encounter everything from original interiors to fully renovated residences. The age, condition, association structure and included services can differ considerably from one property to another.
No. Buying a home in Boca Country Club does not require a private-country-club membership.
The former private Boca Country Club facility was donated to the City of Boca Raton. The City assumed ownership and operations in October 2021 and renamed the facility the Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club. It now operates as a public golf course rather than a member-owned private club.
This is the most important distinction for buyers comparing Boca Country Club with communities such as Boca West, Woodfield, St. Andrews or Boca Grove. In many private-club communities, homeownership requires a substantial club contribution plus annual dues. At Boca Country Club, those mandatory private-club costs do not apply.
There is no mandatory private-club contribution attached to purchasing a home in Boca Country Club. Instead, the City operates golf using public daily rates, resident discounts and an optional Frequent Player Program.
Golf fees are not included with homeownership. Municipal prices and policies can change, so golfers should check the City of Boca Raton’s current rate information before relying on a specific amount.
Homeowners must still account for master-association and/or village HOA charges. Because the community includes different property types and associations, there is no single HOA amount that applies to every Boca Country Club residence.
The Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club is a public 18-hole facility located at 17751 Boca Club Boulevard. The City currently advertises:
Under the City’s current reservation policy, eligible City of Boca Raton residents can book farther in advance than the general public. However, not every home with a Boca Raton mailing address is located within incorporated city limits. Buyers should verify whether a particular address qualifies for City resident pricing and booking privileges.
There is no private-club membership waitlist because the golf course is publicly operated. Tee times can still be in demand. The City offers an electronic notification waitlist that alerts golfers when a preferred tee time becomes available.
The City says it is investing more than $7 million in improvements to the Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club. Its published 2026 updates have included clubhouse-restroom and on-course-restroom renovations, along with continued planning for longer-term facility upgrades.
The former tennis courts were demolished. Although the City has discussed a future racquet center with tennis and pickleball, its published renovation updates do not provide a confirmed completion date. Buyers should therefore evaluate the community based on amenities that are currently operating, not proposed facilities.
Boca Country Club offers one of the more diverse selections of golf-community real estate in Boca Raton. Depending on availability, buyers may find:
This range can appeal to full-time residents, seasonal homeowners, downsizers and buyers who want a lower-cost entry point into a gated Boca Raton golf setting.

Primarily one-story single-family homes, including residences with golf-course and lake views.
Single-family homes on comparatively larger homesites, many positioned around golf and water views.
Courtyard-style villas, including properties with detached guest accommodations.
A mix of one- and two-story townhomes and courtyard residences.
A smaller coach-home neighborhood offering private driveways, garages and open views.
Multi-unit residences with patios or balconies in a golf-community setting.
A courtyard-home neighborhood known for Mediterranean-inspired architecture.
A combination of attached villa-style homes and condominiums.
Mid-rise condominium buildings featuring larger floor plans and wraparound balconies.
Coach homes and attached villas in one- and two-story configurations.
Townhomes offering one- and two-car garage options.
Single-family patio homes and two-story townhomes, including larger bedroom configurations.
The absence of a mandatory club fee does not eliminate the need for careful financial review. Each Boca Country Club village may have its own association, budget, rules and maintenance responsibilities.
Before purchasing, buyers should examine:
This is where two similarly priced homes can have very different total carrying costs.
Boca Country Club | Mandatory private-club community |
$0 mandatory club initiation fee | Often a substantial initiation or equity contribution |
$0 mandatory private-club dues | Required annual dues and possible assessments |
Public, pay-to-play golf | Member-controlled golf access |
Broad selection of property types | Community-specific home selection |
Flexibility for golfers and non-golfers | Full member-only social and amenity experience |
City controls golf operations | Private club controls service and capital planning |
Boca Country Club is not a substitute for the full private-club lifestyle. It does not provide the same member-only social structure, comprehensive amenity package or level of private service found at Boca Raton’s leading country clubs.
Its advantage is flexibility: buyers can own a gated golf-course home without committing to the financial obligations of a mandatory private membership.
Boca Country Club can be an excellent fit for buyers who prioritize:
It may be less suitable for buyers seeking a fully private club with member dining, an established year-round social calendar, completed tennis and pickleball facilities, extensive fitness programming and guaranteed member access.
Most real estate pages describe Boca Country Club as an “optional membership” community. That language is outdated and does not fully explain the opportunity.
The more accurate story is that the residential community now surrounds a City-owned public golf course. Buyers receive the setting and views associated with a golf community without a mandatory private-club contribution.
That creates a compelling middle ground between a traditional mandatory-membership club and a non-golf gated neighborhood. But the value must still be evaluated village by village. HOA finances, insurance responsibilities, assessments, renovations and the specific view can matter just as much as the purchase price.
The Entel Group helps buyers compare the complete cost and lifestyle—not simply the home.
