Woodfield Country Club and Broken Sound Club are two of the most frequently compared private-club communities in Boca Raton. Both offer luxury homes, mandatory club membership, golf, racquet sports, fitness, dining and a full social calendar—but the lifestyles are meaningfully different.
Woodfield is especially well known for its younger, family-centered atmosphere. Broken Sound offers two golf courses, a broader selection of homes and more flexibility in the type of club membership a buyer can select.
The right choice is not simply about which club has more amenities. It comes down to how you want to live, what type of home you want to buy and which activities matter most to your family.

Woodfield has the clearer advantage for buyers whose first priority is a family-centered club environment.
Woodfield Country Club reports an average age of 49 and says that more than 900 children live in the community. Its children’s clubhouse, playgrounds, junior golf and tennis, pool activities, camps, family dining and year-round events are central to the club’s identity.
Broken Sound is also a family-friendly, multigenerational community. Available neighborhood demographic estimates place its median resident age at approximately 56 and suggest that roughly 700 residents are under 18. Broken Sound does not publish an official number of children living in the club, so this figure should be treated as an estimate rather than an official club count.
The practical takeaway is straightforward: families are present and welcomed in both communities, but Woodfield has a stronger concentration of families with school-age children.
For course variety, Broken Sound has the advantage.
Broken Sound offers two distinct golf experiences. The Club Course is located inside the main residential community. The Old Course, located just outside the main gates, has its own clubhouse and a long championship history. Access depends on the membership category purchased and any applicable availability or waiting-list policies.
Woodfield offers one championship 18-hole course and is known for protecting the quality of its golf experience. Full Equity golf membership is currently sold out. However, Woodfield states that buyers may bypass the golf waiting list when purchasing a home whose seller has transferable golf membership rights.
That makes the individual property especially important at Woodfield. Two similar homes may offer very different value if only one comes with immediate Full Equity golf access.
The Entel Group Take: Choose Broken Sound if having two courses is a priority. At Woodfield, confirm whether a home includes golf transferability before making an offer.
Woodfield is a member-owned equity club with two principal membership categories:
Broken Sound uses a tiered membership structure:
Initiation fees are only part of the cost. Buyers should also review annual dues, capital charges, service fees, golf-cart programs, renovation assessments, master-association charges and village HOA fees.
Membership schedules and golf-access policies can change. Every figure and membership category should be confirmed directly with the applicable club before signing a real estate contract.
Woodfield has long been one of Boca Raton’s strongest tennis communities. Its racquet culture is competitive, social and deeply integrated into family life. The club also offers pickleball, fitness, spa services, aquatics and extensive junior programming.
Broken Sound has a substantial racquet program of its own, along with pickleball, aquatics, spa, fitness and wellness facilities. Its continuing capital-improvement program is designed to further enhance racquets, wellness, dining and the overall resort experience.
Serious tennis families often gravitate toward Woodfield. Buyers seeking a broader resort-style mix of golf, wellness, dining and social amenities may prefer Broken Sound.
The selection of homes is one of the biggest differences between these communities.
Woodfield contains approximately 20 residential villages. Its real estate is weighted toward upscale townhomes, courtyard homes and larger single-family residences. Buyers frequently choose Woodfield because they want both the house and its family-focused social environment.
Broken Sound contains 27 villages and offers a wider range of housing. Buyers can find attached villas, smaller patio homes, renovated single-family residences and multimillion-dollar custom estates. This creates more entry points for buyers with different budgets and space requirements.
Broken Sound will generally give a buyer more housing choices. Woodfield delivers a more consistent luxury and family-oriented residential profile.
Broken Sound is positioned in north-central Boca Raton near Yamato Road, between Military Trail and the western residential corridor. It provides convenient access to I-95, the Yamato business district, restaurants and central Boca Raton.
Woodfield is farther west, with convenient access to Florida’s Turnpike, western Boca Raton schools, shopping and family-oriented residential areas.
Neither location is inherently better. Buyers commuting on I-95 may favor Broken Sound, while families already focused on western Boca Raton may prefer Woodfield.
Woodfield and Broken Sound are not interchangeable.
Woodfield is the stronger choice for buyers seeking a concentrated family-club lifestyle. Broken Sound is the stronger choice for buyers prioritizing two-course golf potential, housing variety and membership flexibility.
The best way to decide is to tour both communities on the same day. Compare the homes, spend time around each clubhouse and pay attention to how the club feels—not simply how it looks in photographs.

The Sports Membership initiation fee is currently $150,000. Annual dues, assessments, service charges, association fees and optional expenses are additional.
Woodfield states that Full Equity golf membership is sold out. A buyer may obtain immediate golf membership by purchasing a home whose seller has eligible transferability, subject to club confirmation.
Both clubs welcome families, but Woodfield has the stronger family concentration, more than 900 children and extensive year-round junior programming.
Broken Sound has two 18-hole courses, while Woodfield has one championship 18-hole course.
