Morgan & Friends Turns 20 This January, and It Started at St. Andrews

November 5, 2026

On Sunday, January 10, 2027, at 5:30 p.m., the Morgan Pressel Foundation opens its 20th Morgan & Friends weekend with a gala dinner and auction. At 8:30 the next morning, The Kathy Cup tees off. Lunch on the driving range, a professional exhibition, a 1 p.m. shotgun and a 5 p.m. awards ceremony fill out the day, according to the schedule posted on the Morgan Pressel Foundation website.

To most of South Florida's golf world, it's a charity weekend that brings LPGA players to Boca Raton. On the streets inside St. Andrews Country Club, it has a longer story. Neighbors here helped start the event, the club has hosted it every January since, and Boca Raton Regional Hospital is one of the foundation's main partners. Each January, part of that money comes back to the club grounds in the form of a mobile mammography van.

The First Committee Was Made Up of St. Andrews Neighbors

Morgan Pressel is an LPGA major champion. She started her foundation to honor the memory of her mother, Kathryn Krickstein Pressel. Golf Channel has reported that Pressel grew up at St. Andrews Country Club.

In a first-person essay for LPGA.com, Pressel wrote that she wanted to honor her mother as soon as she turned pro, but she was young and had no experience running an event. She wrote that she was "very fortunate to have amazing friends in our community, St. Andrews CC, who had a lot of experience chairing big events." The first Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer Tournament was held at St. Andrews in 2008.

Neighbors built the event before it had any national profile, and that support has continued. When CBS12 covered the 19th tournament in January 2026, it said the event's longevity and steady growth owed a great deal to the St. Andrews community, "from members and volunteers to longtime donors."

How the Totals Climbed

The fundraising record shows what that support has added up to. Each total below is listed with its source and date, because the foundation's website and news reports were published at different times and don't all show the same figure.

  1. 2008. The first Morgan & Friends tournament is held at St. Andrews.
  2. October 2023. Baptist Health announces a $1.2 million gift from Pressel and her foundation to the Christine E. Lynn Women's Health & Wellness Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. The release says this brought the foundation's giving for breast cancer work at the hospital to nearly $5.5 million.
  3. January 2025. Golfweek reports that the 18th event raised a record $1,022,000. That same year, the foundation launched a second MammoVan.
  4. January 2026. CBS12 reports that the 19th tournament raised a record $1.3 million, leaving the foundation "just shy of $20 million raised since inception."
  5. January 2027. The 20th edition. CBS12 reported that the foundation is expected to pass the $20 million mark at this event.

From the 18th to the 19th event, the yearly total rose from $1,022,000 to $1.3 million, an increase of about 27 percent in one year. The foundation's own website gives a lower lifetime figure of "over $15.5 million" over 19 years. That page has no date, so the January 2026 CBS12 report is the more recent of the two published totals.

Where the Money Goes

The foundation says its grants support hospitals, medical schools and research institutions working on early diagnosis, genetic counseling, new treatments and basic research. In Boca Raton, two of its projects with Boca Raton Regional Hospital carry the Pressel name.

The Kathryn Krickstein Pressel MammoVan. Baptist Health describes the van as an extension of the Christine E. Lynn Women's Health & Wellness Institute and the Schmidt Family Center for Breast Care. The foundation reports that its Mammovan program has provided more than 18,000 mammograms and diagnosed 60 women with breast cancer.

The Morgan Pressel Center for Cancer Genetics. According to Baptist Health, the center offers genetic counseling and testing through Lynn Cancer Institute.

The foundation also funds programs outside Florida. Its projects page lists the MedStar Women's Health Nurse Navigator program in the Washington area. Closer to home, CBS12 reported that tournament money supports screening, treatment access, clinical partnerships and community education across South Florida.

The van also comes back to the club. CBS12 reported that the MammoVan returned to St. Andrews during the January 2026 tournament and offered breast cancer screening on site. The foundation helps fund a hospital van, and during the tournament that van parks at the club where the money is raised.

The 2027 Schedule

Here is the 20th edition as the foundation has posted it:

Day Time Event
Sunday, January 10 5:30 p.m. Gala Dinner and Auction
Monday, January 11 8:30 a.m. The Kathy Cup
Monday, January 11 11:00 a.m. Lunch on Driving Range
Monday, January 11 11:30 a.m. Professional Exhibition
Monday, January 11 1:00 p.m. Golf Shotgun
Monday, January 11 5:00 p.m. Awards Ceremony

The posted schedule doesn't name a venue. The foundation's About page says Morgan & Friends is played every January at St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton, and that its wider fundraising program also includes events at Banyan Golf Club and Woodmont Country Club.

The 2027 field hasn't been announced. Past years give a sense of who comes. The foundation's recap of the January 2025 event names LPGA players Lexi Thompson, Brooke Henderson, Lydia Ko, Brittany Lincicome and Stacy Lewis, along with Golf Channel's Grant Boone. Thompson, a Palm Beach County native, played again in 2026.

How to Help Before January 10

As of this Thursday, the gala is a little over two months away. Most of the auction is put together during that time, and anyone can contribute.

  • Donate an auction item. The foundation's auction donation form asks for a company or contact name, a description of the item, its value, the name to print on recognition materials, and any restrictions or blackout dates. Restaurants, shops, travel providers and private hosts in and around Boca Raton can all use this form.
  • Give directly. The foundation homepage links to a donation portal.
  • Ask about the gala and volunteering. The schedule page lists times but not ticket details, so contact the foundation directly about gala seats or helping on golf day. CBS12 credited St. Andrews volunteers with keeping the event going for years.

Neighbors chaired the first event at St. Andrews in 2008, and the foundation says the tournament has been played at the club every January since.

Rich and Ann at The Entel Group follow the St. Andrews calendar closely. That includes this January weekend, when golf fans and many people with ties to the community come to the club.
